8 Months update

James is almost 9 months now, and his biggest new trick is that he can pull himself up to a standing position. He still only army crawls, but is so fast!!
He also much prefers to feed himself little bits of whatever mom and dad are eating, but is still a good boy and lets me feed him from a spoon because we are still getting baby food help from WIC. We like to do a combination of finger food and baby food at mealtimes to keep him engaged.
James has never been very interested in walking around like this, but in just the past few weeks he's been enjoying the challenge more.

When you hold your arms (or even legs) out toward him, he will gladly pull himself up . Sometimes this hurts dad because he likes to grab his arm hair... ouch!! This picture is a great example of how happy Garrick makes James. They love to smile at each other!

This was taken in the beginning of March right after the first time I saw James pull himself up. He was trying very hard to get to Grammy's laptop that was stashed on the lower endtable shelf. I didn't get there fast enough to capture him launching himself into the shelf space...

Grandpa Bosen's stainless steel bowls make for great toy collectors. They make a fun clanging sound! I love thinking about how I probably made brownies with Emily a hundred times in that bowl when we were little.

Auntie Emily gives James a hair cut!

Just after the wedding excitement died down, my mother, sister Emily and her husband Adam came for a little visit during their spring break.
Emily has been appointed as James' hair cutter, because when we were in Tempe for Christmas, she (and Liz and Jen and Mom) decided to trim his wispies.
This time we decided to go for a more fuzzy look. She made most of the hairs on his head about 3/4 inch long so they stood up like peach fuzz. I decided it would be fun to cut his hair like this because I remembered when I was younger the cutest baby at church always had peach fuzz hair that stuck out! I have to say, it works well on James and also makes him look a bit older. It just so happened that Erika and the boys came over for a visit while this was all happening, so we had quite the crowd observing this wiggly baby getting his hair cut on the shag carpet!

James at the wedding

Here are some wonderful pictures taken by our great Canadian relatives during their visit for the wedding! We love you and are so happy you came!!
James had a rough night. This was him at the reception that started about when his bedtime usually is! He was a real champ though and with so many loving people to hold him, he made it through!

James was sampling the cheese selection at the reception. We sat with the Canadian relatives and Aubrey's brothers Asher and Zack.

Jan and James were best buds! Please note the cute boutonniere made by Grammy, and the suit which was a gift from Aunt Anne Marie and Uncle Richard. We were given the suit back in June before James was born and it just so happened to fit him perfectly for the wedding!

Also please note the spoon being held by Uncle Bill... James was getting his first taste of ice cream, and thought it was a little strange! (Unlike his mother. I love ice cream, especially chocolate. *nod* to Uncle Bill.)

Uncle Gary- a pro Grandpa to the tired and cranky baby James!

Fun with Family!

Grandma Taylor was so nice to watch James while we went to the store when Grammy Woods came for the wedding.

Here are some nice pictures of James having fun with Grammy and Grandpa Woods when they came up for Alex and Aubrey's wedding.

Happy times with James

James and Garrick had a really fun time the other night. They are pretty much best friends by now. James smiles so big when Daddy is around. Here is a video!

Here is a fun little video of James going after a piece of paper. He LOVES to crinkle it, and much to our chagrin, stuff it in his mouth and eat it.

The aftermath:

James also learned to sit up on his own yesterday. For a while he has been able to sit up without help, but yesterday was the first time he put himself into sitting position. Strangely enough the first time he did it was after he crawled under his exersaucer. A minute later he started to cry, but he was fine after we got him out. Silly boy...

7 months and super-cute!

James is 7 months and loving life. He is so happy and sweet!!
*He has two little teeth on the bottom and they are so cute to see when he opens wide. I discovered them one day when I let him chew on my knuckle! Quite a surprise!
*He loves to eat! He eats mixed grain cereal with fruit sauce mixed in for breakfast, and then veggies, meats, cheese and more fruit for lunch and dinner. His favorites are sweet potatoes, bananas, beef, green beans and carrots too.
*Our nutritionist consultant through WIC told us to try and teach him to drink from a cup, and James LOVES it. He is so cute to grab the cup in his hands and then with my help he drinks a little water. He also likes to babble into the echo-y cup.
*He is a super army-crawler and is amazing at changing directions, going all over the room to chase his toys and stray cheerios.
*He has discovered the joy of bouncing. He bounces in his johnny-jumper, his exersaucer, and on you if you stand him up on your lap.
*He loves to clap and babble all sorts of sounds. This week he even started to wave his hand at Grandma Taylor (though we're not sure if he's actually waving or just discovering a new way to move his hand...)

What a great kiddo! We're so lucky to have him around making us so happy!
Here are some videos from the past two weeks. Enjoy!
